Connect a wallet
Your wallet is your login. Connecting shares your address with Mirrorlane and nothing more, so there’s no form, no password, and no money moves.
On this page: Which wallets work
Mirrorlane has no sign-up form. The Ethereum wallet you already use stands for your account: connect it, and Mirrorlane finds the accounts it holds on the exchange. If it holds none yet, your first deposit opens one.
Which wallets work
Section titled “Which wallets work”Any Ethereum wallet that runs in your browser, such as MetaMask or Rabby. Mirrorlane lists every wallet extension the browser announces under Found in this browser. If it finds none, it suggests MetaMask and Rabby: install one, then reload the page.
Connecting by QR code or WalletConnect isn’t available, and the browsers built into apps such as X and Telegram have no wallet.
A multisig or smart-contract wallet, such as Safe, can’t make a trading key here. Those wallets can’t sign the message that registers a key. Lighter’s app registers keys for them with a transaction on Ethereum, which Mirrorlane doesn’t offer.
On a phone
Section titled “On a phone”On a phone, Mirrorlane runs inside your wallet app’s own browser.
- Open your wallet app. MetaMask, Rainbow, Coinbase Wallet, Trust Wallet, OKX Wallet and Phantom each have a browser.
- Find its browser: a tab or a search bar inside the app.
- Go to Mirrorlane there.
Opened in the phone’s ordinary browser, Mirrorlane shows Open Mirrorlane in your wallet, with a link to copy. Your wallet signs everything in its own browser, so your keys never leave it.
What happens when you connect
Section titled “What happens when you connect”- Press Connect wallet in the header or on the order ticket.
- Pick your wallet from the list. It asks to share your address with Mirrorlane; approve it there. Its window may open behind this one.
- Mirrorlane looks up your wallet’s accounts and goes on from there.
| What it finds | What comes next |
|---|---|
| No account | Open your account: your first deposit opens one. See Deposit. |
| Accounts, and a key this device remembers | Trading is on at once, and a notice says Welcome back. |
| Accounts, with no key on this device | Welcome back. With several accounts, pick the one to trade from, each shown by name with its equity. Then enable trading on this device. No deposit needed: balances, positions and history come with you. |
Connecting shares your address and nothing more. Your keys stay in your wallet, and no money moves.
Every wallet prompt in sign-up
Section titled “Every wallet prompt in sign-up”A new account sees four to six wallet prompts in all, with the default two signatures, and only the deposit moves money.
| Step | Wallet prompts | Moves money |
|---|---|---|
| Connect | 1 | No |
| First deposit | None by a deposit address; 1 from your wallet on another network; 2 on Ethereum, an approval and the deposit | Yes |
| Enable trading | 2, or 1 if you choose one signature | No |
| Plus or Premium | None | No |
| Approve the fee | 1 | No |
Your wallet may also ask to switch networks before a deposit from it. After sign-up, orders, cancels and leverage are signed on your device with no wallet prompt. Your wallet signs again only for the few actions in What your wallet signs, such as sending money to someone else.
Where trading isn’t allowed
Section titled “Where trading isn’t allowed”Lighter’s Terms of Service don’t allow trading from some places. From there, Mirrorlane opens in read-only mode: markets, prices and charts stay open, while orders, enabling trading and deposits are off. Withdrawals stay open, so you can still connect your wallet and move your funds out.
Switching or logging out
Section titled “Switching or logging out”If you switch to another address in your wallet, Mirrorlane follows it. If you disconnect Mirrorlane in your wallet, you’re logged out here.
Log out, in the account menu, ends your session on this device. A key this device remembers stays on it, encrypted, so connecting again asks for no new signatures.
