Is my money safe, and who holds it?
Section titled “Is my money safe, and who holds it?”Your money stays in your own account on the exchange, held by Lighter’s smart contracts on Ethereum, and Mirrorlane never holds it. Each batch of trades is proven on Ethereum before the contracts update, and if the exchange ever fails to process withdrawals requested on Ethereum in time, you can still take the full value of your account out directly on Ethereum. Leveraged trading can still lose money quickly. See How your money is kept.
Can Mirrorlane move my money?
Section titled “Can Mirrorlane move my money?”No. Only your wallet’s signature can send your money to someone else, and Mirrorlane never sees your wallet’s keys or seed phrase. The trading key Mirrorlane makes on your device can place orders, move money between your own accounts and send secure withdrawals, which go only back to your wallet; our servers never receive that key. See What your wallet signs.
What does it cost?
Section titled “What does it cost?”One fee on each trade, which the ticket shows before you place the order. It depends on your account type and on whether you trade perps or spot. There’s no subscription and secure withdrawals are free; a deposit from another network, a fast withdrawal or a transfer shows its fee before you send it, and Premium accounts pay none on fast withdrawals and transfers. See The fee.
Which wallets work, and can I use my phone?
Section titled “Which wallets work, and can I use my phone?”Any Ethereum wallet in your browser, such as MetaMask or Rabby. On a phone, open Mirrorlane in your wallet app’s own browser, for example in MetaMask, Rainbow, Coinbase Wallet, Trust Wallet, OKX Wallet or Phantom. Connecting by QR code or WalletConnect isn’t available, and multi-signature and smart contract wallets don’t work. See Connect a wallet.
Why does my wallet ask me to sign twice?
Section titled “Why does my wallet ask me to sign twice?”Enabling trading makes a trading key for your device. The first signature seeds the key, adding randomness from your wallet to the browser’s own, and the second registers it with your account. Neither moves money or costs gas, and you can pick 1 signature on the Enable trading screen instead. Approving the fee, after you pick Plus or Premium, is one more signature.
Why Plus or Premium, and not Standard?
Section titled “Why Plus or Premium, and not Standard?”Trading here takes the fee approval, and the exchange accepts it only on Plus and Premium accounts. So every account trades here on one of the two, and picking one takes no wallet prompt. An account still on Standard can cancel its orders and close its positions here, and opens new ones once it switches and approves the fee. See Account types.
Do I need ETH for gas?
Section titled “Do I need ETH for gas?”Only to deposit from your wallet. That deposit is a transaction on its network, paid in the network’s own coin, such as ETH on Ethereum, Arbitrum or Base. Enabling trading, approving the fee, trading and withdrawing cost no gas: your wallet only signs messages, and a secure withdrawal arrives with nothing to claim. With no gas in your wallet, deposit by address from an exchange or another wallet instead; see Deposits.
How do I deposit, and how long does it take?
Section titled “How do I deposit, and how long does it take?”Send from your wallet, or to a deposit address, from any of 14 networks. Your first deposit opens your account, from 1 USDC on Ethereum or $5 from another network ($10 in BTC). Most deposits land within a few minutes; the direct USDC route takes longer, and a deposit can take up to an hour when the bridge is busy. See Deposits.
How do I withdraw?
Section titled “How do I withdraw?”Open Withdraw from the account menu in the header, or from the Account tab on a phone. Secure sends any asset to your own wallet on Ethereum with no fee and no wallet prompt, and it arrives after the exchange’s withdrawal delay, which the form shows, with nothing to claim. Fast sends USDC from perps to any address on Arbitrum in 15 to 20 seconds: your wallet signs it, the minimum is 4 USDC, and the form shows any fee. See Withdrawals.
Are there limits on how fast I can trade?
Section titled “Are there limits on how fast I can trade?”Yes, the exchange’s. Plus and Premium accounts can send 4,000 orders a minute, and placing or changing orders also draws on a volume quota that starts at 1,000 and grows by 1 for every $2 you trade. You can hold up to 750 open orders on Plus and 1,500 on Premium, with stops and TWAPs counted separately. If you reach a limit, Mirrorlane says so and holds back until there’s room; see Limits.
What happens to my orders when I close the tab?
Section titled “What happens to my orders when I close the tab?”Orders on the exchange keep working: limit orders, stops, TP / SL and TWAP run there until they fill, expire or you cancel them. Chase limit, Iceberg and Advanced TWAP run in your browser, so closing the last Mirrorlane tab stops them, and an order one placed can rest for up to 1 hour unless it fills or you cancel it. They pick up where they stopped when you open Mirrorlane again on the same device. See Advanced TWAP.
What happens if Mirrorlane goes down?
Section titled “What happens if Mirrorlane goes down?”Your money, positions and orders are on the exchange, not with us, and our own servers only hand out deposit addresses. Orders resting on the exchange keep working, stops, TP / SL and TWAP included, and you can manage your account in Lighter’s own app meanwhile. Chase limit, Iceberg and Advanced TWAP run in your browser, so they stop while Mirrorlane isn’t open. See If Mirrorlane is unavailable.
Can I keep using my account in Lighter’s app?
Section titled “Can I keep using my account in Lighter’s app?”Yes. Mirrorlane trades your own account on the exchange, so Lighter’s app shows the same balances, positions and orders. Each device gets its own trading key in a slot of its own, so enabling trading here never replaces the key Lighter’s app uses, and the account type you pick applies in both. Coming from Lighter’s app, connect and enable trading, and your past trades load.
Where is my trading key kept, and what is Remember me?
Section titled “Where is my trading key kept, and what is Remember me?”Your trading key is made on your device and stays there; our servers never receive it. Remember me, the Remember this device switch when you enable trading, is on by default and keeps the key on this device, encrypted, so trading is on when you come back. Anyone who can use this browser can then trade from it, so turn it on only on a device you own. With it off, the key lasts only the session: your wallet signs again next visit, and strategies stay off.
What if I lose my device?
Section titled “What if I lose my device?”Revoke its key. On another device with trading enabled, open API keys in the Account sheet and revoke the lost device’s key; your wallet signs the change, and Lighter’s app can revoke it too. Until then the key can trade on your account, but it can’t send money to anyone else. See Your trading key.
Which countries can’t use Mirrorlane?
Section titled “Which countries can’t use Mirrorlane?”Lighter’s Terms of Service exclude people in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, China, North Korea, Russia, Ukraine, Cuba, Iran, Venezuela, Sudan, Belarus, Myanmar and Syria, and anyone under sanctions, and Mirrorlane follows them. From those places Mirrorlane opens read-only: markets, prices and charts stay open, while enabling trading, orders and deposits are off. Read Lighter’s Terms of Service.
