The fee

Every trade pays one fee, a share of the trade’s value. Its rate depends on your account type, on perps or spot, and on whether your order rests on the book (maker) or fills against it (taker).

On this page: The rates

The fee is charged when an order fills, on the value of each fill. Placing or cancelling an order costs nothing, and there is no subscription. The ticket shows what an order will pay before you place it.

Account type Perps, maker Perps, taker Spot, maker Spot, taker
Plus 0.025% 0.025% 0.045% 0.045%
Premium 0.024% 0.048% 0.044% 0.068%

Premium’s rates above are for an account with no LIT staked. Its fee falls as you stake LIT, which stays in Lighter’s app, and the ticket and your Portfolio then use your account’s own rate.

Mirrorlane trades on Plus or Premium. On Standard, trading is paused here: you can still cancel orders and close positions. See Account types.

  • Maker: your order rests on the book and fills later, when someone trades against it. A limit order that doesn’t cross the book is a maker order, and Post only makes sure of it.
  • Taker: your order fills at once against orders already on the book. Market orders are takers, and so is a limit order priced through the book. A TWAP’s slices are market orders, so each pays the taker rate.
  • Both: a limit order that fills in part at once and leaves the rest on the book pays the taker rate on the first part and the maker rate on what fills later.

On Plus, maker and taker pay the same rate, so the difference matters only on Premium.

The fee is the trade’s value × the rate.

Trade Account type Rate Fee
Market buy of $10,000 of a perpetual Plus 0.025% $2.50
The same market buy Premium 0.048% $4.80
A $10,000 perps limit order that rests, then fills Premium 0.024% $2.40
Market buy of $1,000 of ETH on spot Plus 0.045% $0.45
The same spot buy Premium 0.068% $0.68

The fee is figured on the trade’s full value, whatever your leverage. $1,000 of margin at 10× opens a $10,000 position, which pays $2.50 to open on Plus, a quarter of a percent of the margin, and about the same again to close. Opening and closing at the same price costs $5.00 in all.

On a cross position, the fee comes out of your available cross balance. On an isolated position, it comes out of the position’s own margin, and if that runs short, the exchange moves what is needed from your cross balance.

Before your first order on Plus or Premium, your wallet approves the fee once. The approval has no end date, and you can revoke it in your account under API keys, Approved integrators, where Mirrorlane’s row reads Trading fee approved. Revoking needs no wallet prompt. See What your wallet signs.

Revoking the fee approval pauses trading here. Your next order asks your wallet to approve the fee again, and stops and take-profits already resting may be refused when they trigger.
  • The ticket. The Fees row gives an order’s fee in dollars before you place it. An order not yet known to rest is priced at the taker rate.
  • The chart’s Details tab. The Fees row gives the market’s rates on Plus and on Premium.
  • Trade history. The Fee column gives what each fill paid.
  • Your Portfolio. Trading fee on the Overview, your rate on Performance, and every closed trade’s result after fees.
  • Account type. Fee on perps and Fee on spot, side by side for Plus and Premium.
  • Funding, paid between longs and shorts every hour. See Funding.
  • The price you get. A market order fills at the prices the book offers, and the ticket shows its Est. fill price and Slippage. See Market orders.
  • Moving money. Secure withdrawals are free. A transfer or a fast withdrawal shows its fee before you send it, and Premium accounts pay none for either. See Withdrawals and Transfers.
