Account types

Your account type sets your fee, your speed and your limits on the exchange. Mirrorlane trades on Plus or Premium, and you can switch between them.

On this page: Plus and Premium side by side

One type covers every account on your wallet: your main account and all its sub-accounts move together. A new account picks it at sign-up, right after enabling trading, and you can switch later.

Premium’s fee is for an account with no LIT staked; it falls as you stake, and staking stays in Lighter’s app. Plus is marked Recommended: the lower taker fee, for most traders. Premium is the fastest, for systematic traders.

Latency is a short wait the exchange adds before a transaction executes. A taker order waits 300 ms on Plus and 140 ms on Premium. Post-only orders don’t wait on either, and cancels don’t wait on Premium.

What every trade pays, with worked examples, is on The fee.

On both types, new orders, changes and cancel-alls on any of your accounts draw on a shared allowance. It starts at 1,000 and grows by 1 for every $2 you trade. Cancelling one order doesn’t use it. If it runs out, you still get one free every 15 seconds. The Account type section shows what is left, from the reply to your last order.

Standard is the exchange’s default type, for accounts that never chose another. Mirrorlane trades on Plus or Premium, so on Standard trading is paused here. The trade screen says “Trading is paused on Standard”, and you can still cancel orders and close positions. Pick Plus or Premium, under the banner or in the ticket’s place, to trade again.

Open your account menu, then Account type, or Settings, Account, Account type. The choice is the same during sign-up.

  • It needs a flat account. Mirrorlane switches only with no open positions and no open orders on the account you trade from, and says what is in the way.
  • No wallet prompt. This device’s trading key signs the switch.
  • Every account on the wallet moves. Your sub-accounts switch with your main account.
  • The fee approval follows. Moving to Plus or Premium from an account that hasn’t approved the fee asks your wallet to approve it once.
  • It takes a moment. The exchange applies the switch after it answers, and Mirrorlane checks until your new type shows.
  • 24 hours between switches. Mirrorlane offers the next switch 24 hours after your last one, and shows when.
Sub-accounts can stop a move to Plus. Plus allows 16 sub-accounts and none can be deleted. A Premium account with more than 16 can’t switch back to Plus.
